WG 3.14 Low Voltage Technology
Focus
The "Low Voltage Technology" working group addresses issues including the following topics in the context of its experience exchange, its concept developments, formulation of requirements to be met by automation solutions and its involvement in national and international standardisation:
- Functional safety of electrotechnical elements
- LV switchgear technology (main distributions center, motor control center and combinations of both) including respective components
- Earthing, grounding, equal potential bonding and overvoltage protection
- Specific topics regarding design and installation of electric systems such as cable or lighting systems
- Questions on power quality issues (e.g. EN 50160) in correlation with new and ongoing international standardisation projects and main parameters of electric devices
- Maintenance requirements of electric devices and systems.
Advantages
- Avoidance of additional lifecycle costs through standardisation
- Influence on standardisation activities in the case of electrotechnical subjects to avoid more costly standards for users
- Establishing of user-oriented codes of practice as comprehensive planning guides and decision-making aids for international engineering work
- Maintenance/Increase of technical competence through exchange of experience
