WG 2.9 Human Machine Interface

Focus

The working group "Human-Process Communication" deals with the following topics, among others:

  • Graphical process visualization for process management, especially regarding the design of user interfaces for process control systems
  • Alarm management for process control systems
  • Mobile work in the process environment

To this end, the working group develops concepts and requirements for automation solutions, based on insights gained through experience exchange and participation in national/international standardization.

Advantages

  • Alarm management reduces the workload of plant operators, especially in critical situations
  • Optimized alarm systems enable early detection of deviations from normal operation to support timely, targeted counteractions
  • Optimally designed user interfaces provide the plant operator with the best possible support – both in day-to-day business and in coping with critical situations
  • Optimized human-machine communication improves process management and provides potential for quality improvement, throughput increase, etc.
  • Uniform, task-related presentation of production-relevant information from an often-heterogeneous system environment
  • Safeguarding the interests of users in the process industry through active influence on norms and standards
