WG 2.9 Human Machine Interface
Focus
The working group "Human-Process Communication" deals with the following topics, among others:
- Graphical process visualization for process management, especially regarding the design of user interfaces for process control systems
- Alarm management for process control systems
- Mobile work in the process environment
To this end, the working group develops concepts and requirements for automation solutions, based on insights gained through experience exchange and participation in national/international standardization.
Advantages
- Alarm management reduces the workload of plant operators, especially in critical situations
- Optimized alarm systems enable early detection of deviations from normal operation to support timely, targeted counteractions
- Optimally designed user interfaces provide the plant operator with the best possible support – both in day-to-day business and in coping with critical situations
- Optimized human-machine communication improves process management and provides potential for quality improvement, throughput increase, etc.
- Uniform, task-related presentation of production-relevant information from an often-heterogeneous system environment
- Safeguarding the interests of users in the process industry through active influence on norms and standards
