WG 4.15 Mobile Automation

Focus

The "Mobile Automation" working group addresses issues including the following topics in the context of its experience exchange, its concept developments, formulation of requirements to be met by automation solutions and its involvement in national and international standardisation:

  • Fields of application for wireless technologies and mobile applications in process automation
  • Requirements and technical concepts for wireless communication infrastructures
  • Selection of appropriate radio frequencies and technologies
  • Radar function for market and technology developments
  • Economic benefit of wireless and mobile automation

Advantages

  • Cost efficient usage of wireless and mobile automation solutions
  • Avoidance of unprofitable investments by choosing the appropriate technology
  • Identification of economic potential by using wireless and mobile automation solutions (e.g. optimised maintenance process, mobile DCS HMIs)
  • Active participation in the definition of standards to protect user interests
  • Further development of current manufacturer products adapted to reflect end user requirements
