WG 2.3 Batch Control

Focus

The "Batch Control" working group addresses issues including the following topics in the context of its experience exchange, its concept developments, formulation of requirements to be met by automation solutions and its involvement in national and international standardisation:

  • Monitoring of the specialist field "Batch Control"
  • Batch systems together with MES and DCS – "Automation landscape" Batch management in the area of Manufacturing Operation Management
  • Implementation of projects with current batch systems
  • Functional specifications for batch plants/interface to process technology
  • Concepts for automation of recipe from ERP to DCS
  • Development of new requirements for future batch systems

Advantages

    • Spread and use of IEC61512-1 resulting in a common language of the interdisciplinary teams involved in the topic of batch control
    • Optimisation of the flexibility of production plants -> Practice of the S88.01 approach for the modularisation of distributed control and batch systems
    • Increase of efficiency at the interface to process technology by standardised documented modules
    • Active influence on norms and standards to protect user interests
    • Further development of current supplier products adapted to meet user requirements
