from 2018-08-02Agreement underlines good relations between the two organisations
Recently <link http: www.opengroup.org>The Open Group, the global consortium that enables the achievement of business objectives through technology standards, and <link https: www.namur.net>NAMUR, the association of process industry end users of automation technology, have signed an agreement to cooperate in the creation of open automation system standards.
The agreement focuses on the open exchange of documents and looks to establish a common understanding of the challenges faced by end users. It also seeks to harmonise the approaches of The Open Group Open Process Automation™ Forum (OPAF), Module Type Package (MTP) and NAMUR Open Architecture (NOA).
The partnership has been communicated and underlined by several joint presentations at international conferences, along with a joint workshop in April in London.
“We are very pleased to be working with NAMUR on the development of open automation system standards,” said Ed Harrington, Forum Director, The Open Group Open Process Automation Forum. “NAMUR is an internationally recognised leader in the space and it’s important that we work together if we are to achieve the same end goal and make real headway on open standards in the process automation industry.”
“The Development of internationally aligned open standards on automation technology is key for our success”, said Wilhelm Otten, NAMUR president. “It’s a great pleasure an honor to cooperate with The Open Group as global consortium to influence and shape the way to a process control technology of the future.”
