Abstract NE 160 ‘A Reference Model for Generic Procedure Descriptions’
(Edition: 2016-06-09)

In automation technology, controllable processes occur in a wide variety of technological areas and on all levels of the automation pyramid. In the past, processes were controlled independently from each other. Dueto the stronger connections of processes, the control functions have to be linked stronger, too.

This NAMUR recommendation was developed with the objective of defining a reference model for generic procedure descriptions. The reference model creates a semantic basis that allows communication between the procedures on the different levels of the automation pyramid. Furthermore, procedures can now be concretized consistently during the different engineering phases.
