The NAMUR Worksheet NA 181 has been released and may now be obtained from the NAMUR Office.

Abstract to NA 181 "Quality control of all electrical work sections during installation"

Time and cost of the PCS installation process and its quality assurance are gaining increasing importance in project implementation.

The aim of the NA181 Worksheet is to implement the idea of quality assurance of the electrical installation process as an in-process activity covering all work sections involved.

This QA process will help to identify and prevent installation defects at an early stage.

The following benefits will be achieved:

  • Reduced total cost of ownership (TCO)
  • shorter EI&C installation times
  • shorter commissioning times (functional testing)
  • higher plant availability, e.g., by shorter downtimes
  • cost-neutral and quick elimination of defects by person(s) who caused them
  • prevention of unsafe states caused by installation defects
  • consistent compliance with general and installation standards
  • full match of services commissioned and rendered
  • lower servicing and maintenance requirements (asset life cycle)
  • easier future plant extensions.

The purpose of this NAMUR Worksheet is to provide support for developing an extended quality assurance system to be applied during installation and it describes methods for its implementation.
