Abstract NA 96 ‘Process Diagnostics – Status Report’

Diagnostics is a common term in automation technology. It is often mentioned in connection with a specific application, e.g. „fault diagnostics“, „sensor diagnostics“ or „machine diagnostics. NA 96 gives an overview from the point of view of process control / process operation.

The general task of diagnostics is to evaluate and supervise important process values. The goal is to detect faults, abnormal situations or severe disturbances. NA 96 describes the different steps of this process and possible methods that can be used for their realization (data-driven methods as well as rigorous approaches). Information about important implementation aspects are also given.
