NAMUR Process Automation Award

Die NAMUR vergibt seit 2005 einen Preis für die beste wissenschaftliche Examensarbeit (Diplom / Master und Promotion) auf dem Gebiet "intelligente Prozessführung".

Herausforderung Prozessautomatisierung
Aufgrund steigender Anforderungen an Wirtschaftlichkeit, Qualität und Verfügbarkeit verfahrenstechnischer Anlagen gewinnt die Effizienz der Produktion zunehmend an Bedeutung für den Geschäftserfolg der Prozessindustrie. Die Entwicklung und Anwendung verbesserter Methoden der Prozessautomatisierung sind für viele Unternehmen wichtig, um die verfügbaren Ressourcen effizient und effektiv einzusetzen. Die Automatisierungstechnik ist dabei ein integraler Bestandteil der Produktionsanlagen und eine der Schlüsseltechnologien für den wirtschaftlichen Erfolg.
Zur Entwicklung neuer Methoden der Prozessautomatisierung sind sowohl vertiefte Kenntnisse der Automatisierungstechnik als auch der Verfahrens- und Prozesstechnik erforderlich. Um die Attraktivität dieses zukunftsträchtigen, interdisziplinären Arbeitsgebietes weiter zu erhöhen und junge Wissenschaftler zu ermutigen, sich darin zu vertiefen, vergibt die NAMUR seit 2005 jeweils einen Preis für die beste Diplom-/Master- und Promotionsarbeit auf dem Gebiet der Prozessautomatisierung.

Beurteilungskriterien:

• Originalität / Themenauswahl: eigenständige wissenschaftliche Arbeit oder zusammenfassende Darstellung eines Gebiets mit Wertung
• anschauliche Darstellung
• Qualität im wissenschaftlich-technischen Bereich
• Anwendungspotenzial für die Prozessindustrie

Die Preisträger werden aus den eingereichten Arbeiten durch ein NAMUR Gutachtergremium ausgewählt und im Rahmen der NAMUR Hauptsitzung geehrt. Der Rechtsweg ist ausgeschlossen.

Teilnahmebedingungen:
Lehrstuhlinhaber der Automatisierungstechnik und Verfahrenstechnik können pro Jahr je einen Antrag für die beste Master-/Diplom- und Promotionsarbeit bei der NAMUR Geschäftsstelle einreichen. Diesem Antrag muss eine entsprechende Begründung des einreichenden Hochschullehrers beigefügt sein. Die Arbeiten (Master-, Diplom- oder Promotion) müssen eine ca. 2-seitige Zusammenfassung enthalten, ansonsten ist diese beizufügen. Im Rahmen des Promotionspreises sind zusätzlich zur Dissertation dazugehörige Veröffentlichungen einzureichen (alle Unterlagen bitte per E-Mail an office[at]NAMUR.de).

• Einsendeschluss für Anträge: 30. Juni 2009
• Benachrichtigung aller Bewerber (Lehrstuhlinhaber): 15. Oktober 2009
• Preisverleihung: Im Rahmen der NAMUR-Hauptsitzung (Freitag, 06. November 2009)

Dotierung:

• 1000 € für ausgewählte Diplom-/Master-Arbeit
• 2000 € für ausgewählte Promotionsarbeit

NAMUR Process Automation Award
NAMUR has awarded a prize since 2005 for the best scientific examination thesis (diploma / master–s and doctoral) in the field of intelligent process management.

The challenge posed by process automation
The need to meet increasing demands relating to the efficiency, quality and availability of engineering process systems means that production efficiency has grown in importance when it comes to ensuring business success in the process industry. The development and use of improved process automation methods are important for many companies if available resources are to be utilised efficiently and effectively. Automation engineering represents an integral part of production systems in this context, being one of the key technologies that contribute to economic success.

A deepened knowledge of automation technology and process engineering is required to develop new process automation methods. NAMUR has awarded a prize since 2005 for the best diploma / master–s and doctoral thesis in the field of process automation to further increase the attractiveness of this promising interdisciplinary field and encourage young scientists to deepen their knowledge of this area.

Evaluation criteria:

• Originality / Choice of topic: independent scientific work or a summarised representation of a particular field with assessment.
• Descriptive presentation
• Quality in the field of engineering and science
• Application potential for the process industry

The recipients of the award are selected from the submitted theses by an expert NAMUR committee and presented with the award during the NAMUR Annual General Meeting. Any recourse to courts of law is excluded.

Conditions for participation:
Holders of a chair in automation engineering and process engineering may each submit one application per annum to NAMUR for the best diploma / master–s and doctoral thesis. The appropriate credentials of the submitting university or college professor should be included with the application. Theses (master–s, diploma or doctoral) should contain a summary (approx. 2 pages), otherwise this should be included. In the context of the promotion award, related publications should be submitted in addition to the dissertation (please submit all documents by e-mail).

Deadlines:

• Closing date for applications: June 30th, 2009
• Notification of all applicants (chairholders): October 15th, 2009
• Prize awarded during the NAMUR Annual General Meeting (Friday, November 6th, 2009) 

Endowment:

• 1000 € for selected diploma / master–s thesis
• 2000 € for selected doctoral thesis
