Who needs "NAMUR.smart ?
NAMUR.smart is an ingenious tool for monitoring your safety systems: It calculates the performance of safety instrumented systems, helps to detect failures on devices or entire device series at an early stage and enables the determination of real life failure rates of safety subsystems to determine the probability of failure on demand (PFD).
How well do your safety devices actually work? Are you really achieving the planned risk reduction with your safety measures or are you just lucky that nothing happens? NAMUR.smart answers all of this.
In addition, NAMUR.smart supports to meet normative requirements for the Functional Safety Management: according to IEC 61511-1 5.2.5.3, the performance of the safety instrumented systems needs to be assessed.

That's great too! This also requires failure data management – see VDI/VDE 2180-2 chapter 9.4. NAMUR.smart provides a very convenient basis for this. However, NAMUR.smart saves developing and operating own evaluation processes for Functional Safety Management.
