NE167 Common technical delivery conditions (…) has been revised

from 2024-11-12

Summary of NE 167 “Common technical delivery conditions for valves, actuators and PCS field devices”
(Edition: 2024-11-12)

NAMUR Recommendation NE167 has been updated both editorially and in terms of content. It includes important improvements and additions that further enhance standardization and quality assurance regarding valves, actuators and process control field devices in the process industry.
One of the main aspects of the revision is the introduction of "electronic tagging" in accordance with IEC 61406. This requirement stipulates that valves and actuators shall be equipped by the manufacturer with a machine-readable ID, a so-called digital nameplate. This requirement drives digitalization in the process industry and makes it easier to identify and manage devices in the field.
The added reference to NE53 requires that changes to the device hardware shall now be reported accordingly. This addition improves the traceability of device modifications. Various technical aspects have also been revised and detailed. For example, the requirements for external leak tightness have been updated to further increase safety and reliability.
In summary, these changes contribute to further improving standardization, digitalization, quality and safety in the process industry. The revised NE167 thus represents an updated and future-oriented industry standard for valves, actuators and PCT field devices.
