The following NAMUR Recommendation has been released and may now be obtained from the NAMUR Office.

NE 158 “Health Monitoring of PCS Assets”
(Edition 2016-10-14)

The recommendation is available in English and Chinese language.

Abstract

Process control systems (PCS) are a key asset in the process industry. System life-cycle management - from engineering, commissioning, start-up, operation and decommissioning - is challenging for both end-users and suppliers. Management of these systems is often further complicated when automation systems from different suppliers exist within the same site or company.

For process control systems including any external systems that interface with it, the recommendation provides detailed user health monitoring requirements. Those requirements include health monitoring functional requirements for existing systems, user expectations of health monitoring during development of next generation automation products and implementing and integrating health monitoring information during the system engineering design phase.
