from 2014-12-16

The following NAMUR Recommendation has been released and may now be obtained from the NAMUR Office.

NE 152 "Controller Performance Management: Monitoring and Optimisation of regulatory control in production plants" (Version 2014-12-15)

Increasingly volatile markets and the resulting fluctuating utilisation rate of production plants in the process industry demand increasingly more flexible operating modes which can only be ensured through constant optimisation. This includes continuous examination and optimisation of the regulatory controls employed in the process control system. This continuous improvement process is called Controller Performance Management. In this process, software-based analysis tools are typically used for easy prioritisation and thus for efficient resource allocation.

The aim of this recommendation is to compile the requirements for controller performance management from a user’s point of view. The recommendation will allow users to develop a workflow in their own company for the continuous improvement process based on suitable software. The minimum requirements to be met by such software are illustrated. In principle, roles and information flows are required for the successful realisation of the workflow, and these are defined in examples in the recommendation.
