Abstract to NA 099 „Explosion protection document“
(Edition: 2022-12-19)

With the amendment of the German Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health in the Use of Work Equipment (Industrial Safety and Health Ordinance) (Verordnung über Sicherheit und Gesundheitsschutz bei der Verwendung von Arbeitsmitteln, (Betriebssicherheitsverordnung - BetrSichV)) in 2015, the previously contained requirements for the preparation of explosion protection documents were deleted from the Industrial Safety and Health Ordinance (BetrSichV) and specified in the Hazardous Substances Ordinance (Verordnung zum Schutz vor Gefahrstoffen. Gefahrstoffverordnung – GefStoffV).
§ 6 paragraph 9 of the Hazardous Substances Ordinance (GefStoffV) requires the employer to draw up an explosion protection document if the use of the existing substances, mixtures and articles can lead to explosion hazards.

This NAMUR Worksheet is designed to support member companies in preparing explosion protection documents.

The document structure presented here will enable multiple sites/units/plants to adopt a uniform approach and easily adapt the document to operational changes.

This Worksheet supports employers in the process industry in preparing an explosion protection document. It applies to plants in potentially explosive atmospheres within the meaning of Annex 2 section 3 of the German Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health in the Use of Work Equipment (Industrial Safety and Health Ordinance) (Verordnung über Sicherheit und Gesundheitsschutz bei der Verwendung von Arbeitsmitteln, (Betriebssicherheitsverordnung - BetrSichV)).
