“Cooperative Process Automation” – the tenth NAMUR conference in China
from 2019-01-25The thenth annual conference in China was held in Shanghai on the 21st and 22nd , November 2018. 180 participants from member companies, representatives of the press, standardisation organisations, universities, and invited guests from local process industry companies celebrated this 10th anniversary together beside the tranditional conference program.
This year the annual conference China was co-sponsored by Endress+Hauser, Pepperl+Fuchs, HIMA, Samson, Siemens, WAGO, Krohne and Yokogawa. The companies had already sponsored the event separately in the previous years.
Plenary Session: From Conceptial to Practical
In the plenary session NAMUR China working groups together with sponsors delivered a wide range of speeches which covered intelligent manufacturing, efficiency improvement and future development. The conference motto “Cooperative Process Automation” was interpreted in the way of exchanging ideas on the same focuses.
Participants usually don’t like only hearing concepts ideas for automation technology development. They also expect to see use cases. With the presentations from conceptual to practical the audience received the speeches very well and gave very positive feedback such as “exiting presentation with practical use cases”.
Split-up Session: Deep Technical Exchange
To enhance technical exchange in the conference, near to twenty presentations and workshops were organized in the split-up session. In such smaller groups of people, working groups and sponsors had more opportunities to have bidirectional communication with the participants.
Functional safety, OT safety, maintenance and application of automation techniques were important topics that attracted the audience and caused a lot of exchange and discussion.
Panel Discussion: Open Dialogue
With the opportunity that so many professionals from NAMUR member companies and sponsors participated, two panel discussions on " Cooperative Process Automation" and " Challenges of Intelligent Manufacturing in China" were organized.
NAMUR presentatives and representative from eight sponsors participated in the panel discussions. They openly shared their views on how process automation should develop cooperatively. Best practices like NOA etc. were shared with wishes but also concerns.
Intelligent manufacturing is rolling out in China. What’s the challenge of it in China? How to cope with those challenges? How to take the opportunity of rolling out? The panel discussion participants shared their point of view with lot of experience examples.
This was the first time in NAMUR Annual Conference in China history that professionals from so many different companies directly contributed to the conference program. Those exiting presenations, workshops and panel discussions made this annivesary conference remarkable. Several local media reported on this event during and after the conference.
Future annual conferences in China will be held in June to shorten the time gap between knowledge sharing at conferences in Europe and China. Next NAMUR Annual Conference China will be held on June 26th and 27th, 2019.
