WG 2.9 Human Machine Interface

Focus

The "Human Machine Interface" working group addresses issues including the following topics in the context of its experience exchange, its concept developments, formulation of requirements to be met by automation solutions and its involvement in national and international standardisation:

  • Process control using display screens
  • Alarm management for distributed control systems
  • Design of HMI (human machine interfaces) for distributed control systems

Advantages

    • Use of alarm management according to NA 102 reduces the workload for the plant operator, especially during critical situations
    • Optimised DCS signaling systems allows timely identification of target state deviations and target-oriented countermeasures
    • Good DCS HMI provide task-related information from heterogeneous systems
    • Optimised human process communication provides potential for improvements in quality, production output, etc.
    • Active influence on norms and standards preserve user interests
